Kanwal Kaur

Kanwal was born and raised in Punjab, India. She completed her legal studies at National Law University, Punjab and also holds a master’s degree in Access to Justice from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.

After being called to the Bar in India, Kanwal worked in the field of criminal defense and family law in Punjab.

Kanwal immigrated to Vancouver in 2021 to pursue a master’s degree in Canadian Common Law at UBC's Peter A. Allard School of Law. During her time in Vancouver, she volunteered at the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program and worked as a Research Assistant at Rise Women’s Legal Centre conducting research on creating safety in BC courthouses for survivors of violence.

Outside of work Kanwal enjoys exploring Kamloops and is excited to become a part of this community.
